Troye’s Birth Story

When I finally came into the birth center to have my baby, it was such a calm experience. I hung out in the room, labored peacefully, and wasn’t bothered or rushed. We did our own thing, and when my baby was born, it was just very chill. That’s how I describe my birth here — peaceful and calm. It was nothing like my hospital birth.

My postpartum recovery has been amazing, and that’s been one of the biggest differences. After my first birth, I struggled with postpartum anxiety and depression, which I think was partly because of the trauma from that experience. This time, I haven’t struggled with any of that. We’ve just been able to recover at home, and it’s been a really great experience.

One part of my preparation for this birth was making it a more spiritual experience. I created a Christian playlist to listen to during labor, and as soon as I stepped into the birth room, I felt the presence of angels. I could picture my baby coming earthside, and it was such a deeply spiritual and meaningful moment for me.

I wish I had known from the beginning that I could have the birth I wanted. I feel like many women aren’t educated enough about childbirth and just assume they have to do things the way hospitals say. The norm isn’t ideal for everyone, and there are so many options that allow you to trust your body and your baby. Learning about the stages of labor and what to expect beforehand can take away a lot of fear. It’s normal to be scared, but you don’t have to be afraid of the birth process itself. Your body and baby know what to do.

I highly recommend My Family Birth Center. It made such a difference for me. My labor and postpartum experiences here were so much better than my hospital birth, and I’m grateful for the care and support I received throughout the entire process.
