Wendy’s Birth Story
This time around, I was more worried, partly because my mom had passed away a month before, and I hadn’t prepared as well as I usually do. I was also having more back labor, which made me nervous that it would be a long birth. When I called Loretta, she immediately told me what to do — to lean forward because the baby had turned the wrong way. I was amazed at how quickly things progressed after following her advice. What could have been a long, hard labor turned into a quick and peaceful birth.
One of the things I loved most about having my baby at home with My Family Birth Center’s team was how quiet and respectful they were. I don’t like people talking to me when I’m in labor — I go into my own world — and they completely understood that. They helped me through the process without being intrusive, and it was just what I needed.
Choosing My Family Birth Center felt like a no-brainer. I had worked with them before and knew they were good people who I trusted. That familiarity was so reassuring. Knowing who’s going to be with you during birth makes a huge difference, especially when not everyone you meet in medical settings has the same approach or understanding.
At other places, I’ve often felt like things were pushed on me — decisions about vaccinations or interventions — and I prefer a natural approach. Here, they gave me the information I needed without judgment, allowing me to make my own choices. That’s something I really appreciated. They supported my decisions without pressuring me one way or the other.
I feel so comfortable with the team at My Family Birth Center. They’ve always made me feel respected and cared for, and I’ve never felt pressured into making decisions I wasn’t comfortable with. It’s a relief to know that when I go there, I’m working with people I genuinely like and trust.
